Congregation Beth Elohim

LOCATION: Brooklyn, NY
PROJECT TYPE: Community
BUILD TYPE: Renovation
PROJECT SIZE: 80,000 SF

Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE) is a Reform Jewish congregation in Brooklyn and a spiritual, cultural, and intellectual center for Jewish revitalization. CBE occupies two facilities at the intersection of Garfield Place and Eighth Avenue in the Park Slope Landmark District. On the northeast corner is its Sanctuary, a Classic-Revival limestone structure that was built in 1909, and on the southeast corner is the Temple House - a four-story structure containing community facilities including a pool, social hall, gym and classrooms.

UPC was engaged to develop a comprehensive approach to the capital and facility management needs of the two buildings. UPC's role has included translating the architectural, systems, and building-code compliance recommendations in an existing Facilities Study into an actionable plan that will be phased in over several years.
